What is whiskey throttle?

Whiskey throttle, also known as an unintended acceleration, is a term used to describe a situation where a motorcycle or other motorized vehicle rapidly speeds up due to the rider accidentally giving too much gas to the engine, causing a loss of control.

It is named after the phenomenon of novice riders who get nervous, and due to the jitters often give the bike too much throttle, often resulting in a painful and/or embarrassing crash.

Whiskey throttle is a common cause of motorcycle accidents and is often caused by inexperienced riders who are not aware of how to properly control their motorcycles. To prevent whiskey throttle, riders should practice correct throttle control and be mindful of accelerating too quickly. Additionally, riders should not ride while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, as this can impair their ability to safely operate the motorcycle.
